Meibomian gland dysfunction-constipation-galactorroe and shivering inside?

Does anyone has any tips?

It seems that everything in my body is blocked or clogged up.

Any info or tips?

At this moment I still do not have a 100% diagnose...

That is why I am looking for help or info.

Have a lot of problems with stiffness around my wrist-ankles and fingers...

Also VIT d is very low (11) and prolactine is high (144 now)

Excessive eye blinking...

Sandee007, The symptoms you describe could all be caused by inadequate thyroid hormone, including dry eyes, high prolactin etc.

Have you had your thyroid hormone levels tested? If yes, what were your results for TSH, FT4 and FT3?

If you haven't been tested, then that needs to be done asap. No-one can offer any help without this information.

Low vitamin D is something you can probably sort out for yourself. Vitamin D supplements can be purchased in pharmacies, supermarkets, online etc.

Here are my latest (bad) blood results:

Prolactine: 144

Vit d: around 11

LDH (liver) 318

TSH should be good is 0.80

FT4 is 15.6

I NEVER get FT3 results, is that important?

Is this a good or bad result?

If vitamin D is 11ng/ml that’s 27nmol

Extremely low

If vitamin D is 11nmol that’s obviously even lower

Is vitamin D measurement in nmol or ng/ml

Please add ranges (figures in brackets after each result)

You need TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested

Folate, ferritin and B12

Thanks for the info. ng/ml for the vit D...I have lots of finger twitching going on. And then the twitching is in my face-feet-arms etc...stiffness is extreme...

I have no check for TS3 and B12. Next time I will ask the doctor for TS3 and B12...LDH liver was +318 U/L that was too high. Thanks again for spending your time and letting me know this info. At the moment (Corona-virus) it is difficult to get a doctor visit here in Belgium.

Insist GP do full thyroid testing including thyroid antibodies

In the meantime you need to sort out your dry eyes. Constantly putting in preservative free dry eye drops. Speak to your local optician for recommendations - HycoSan, Hyabak, Theolose Duo to name but a few these are all drops for day time. You can get a greasy Vaseline like one for night if you need a bit more. That might sort out the constant blinking.

Meibomian gland dysfunction - well the eye drops will help and you can either buy a microwaveable eye bag, heat it and lie with it over your eyes, then massage your eyelids or you can hold a hot wet face flannel over your eyes then massage the lids. I’ve got eye bags but I actually prefer the hot wet face cloth although I have to keep re-wetting it.

Afraid I can’t help with the rest other than say to cut back on sugars and increase roughage for the constipation and if all else fails try Fybogel for a few days.

You need get full thyroid, vitamin and minerals tested and go from there.as someone has said you can supplement vitamin D yourself, I’d have it tested a couple of times a year even if you have to pay for it yourself. A lot of us do end up giving up and just paying for home tests

Might also be worth asking though be tested for rheumatic disease if your fingers etc are stiff

Thanks...it takes a long time to make a doctor appointment (Corona),every one is busy...

For dry eyes...I tried everything...it went good for a while but now they are clogged again...

I use eyedrops-heat mask-Blephasteam-Blephagel etc...Manuka honey...bbshampoo...you name it, it tried it! Thanks for you time.

Think it’s being consistent and pretty much ‘overdosing’ with eyedrops until you get the dry eyes under control, then keep going, don’t stop putting them in even when you think they are good.

I know it is very good for healing - I used it on my husband’s wound after a hip replacement and I’ve used it for myself - but I’m not sure I’d want to use Manuka honey in my eyes.

I also like Blephawipes and if you haven’t already tried it try Vizualize Eye Wash from Tesco. It comes with its own eye bath. It’s good.

Good luck with it all.

Fruitandnutcase is correct about not stopping the eye drops when you think it’s under control but to keep going. I paid for an eye health check at the opticians during the first lockdown and it was worth every penny for her time, explanation and treatment advice. I’d repeatedly been to the GP with the eye problem, showing him photos of how red, weepy and sore my eyes could get to be dismissed.

I use organic coconut oil for my dry eyes before bed

Suppose it wouldn’t be as sticky as Manuka honey which is incredibly sticky, it would be more like the dry eye ointments you can buy.

Did you put it onto the surface of your eye as you would the night time ointments or just rub it round your eye?

For your meibomian gland dysfunction apply heat pad 2-3 times a day and gently massage lids to express the glands. You can buy specialist heat pads online. I prefer this to hot wet cloth method. Clean lids at least daily with specialist cleaner like Lid n Lash using their instruction for using a circular motion. I had this problem last year and a huge cyst on my upper lid, which I managed to get rid of by doing this twice a day, every day for 7 months. Slow Dragon has given excellent advice below about your thyroid problem and Fruit and Nut case about dry eye if you have this problem. Good luck.

Your Vit.D deficiency definitely needs addressing asap because that alone will be having a negative impact on your body. Feeling cold, aches, pains and stiffness could all be attributed to this. Your GP must prescribe given your level; just make sure you are regularly tested, and get your level up to optimal, not just within the range. Perhaps you could have RA factor tested if the stiffness remains an issue, too. Regarding your eyes, others have posted excellent advice. Keep the treatment simple, frequent, and don't stop, even though you think the condition has resolved.

Thanks for the info. How long does it take (weeks or months) for vit D to be oké again?

Thank you so much for the advice! I take D-cure vit d 25.000 U.I every 14 days. Also magnesium-calcium and fish oil every day.

Magnesium and vitamin C will help with the constipation. Might be worth trying a magnesium oil spray or flakes in bath or footbath, as well as the tablet that you are taking and increasing vit C until you are getting regular movements. Relaxing vagus nerve will help too - try singing or humming in the bathroom (any everywhere else!) and do some vigorous gargling. Once you are more regular, look at lymphatics too - are you moving/exercising well or a bit sedentary, in which case lymph could use some help (dry brushing, massaging, bouncing). Vitamin D is better at a lower daily dose, rather than a higher one more spread out and it would be worth thinking about taking some Vit K2 as well. Have you been checked for Coeliac and looked into food intolerances? You may find a gluten or dairy issue adding to your difficulties. Best wishes

I am hypo thyroid so have many issues but constipation was bad for me at one time and I saw a post on here saying that drinking electrolytes with plenty of water would help. I didn't quite see it working, but for me it did and now I use 2 sachets in water am and pm. I can buy a box of 6 sachets for 99p in Home Bargains, so won't break the bank and I feel as though it has helped me a lot.

Sorry I can't offer any help with your other issues, hope things improve.
