He worked as president of R&D at GSK for 6 years so the shares may well be part of a bonus scheme or employee benefit where shares can be bought at a discount. That's not uncommon.

I imagine that GSK would be one of the few pharma cos to have the capacity to make the volume of vaccines the government wants.

I'd take with a pinch of salt anything the Daily Mail says!

He and Cummings are linked to GSK, but apparently Valance sold a lot of his shares and so did the Moderna execs - does that mean they have no confidence in their vaccines or have they sold to shell companies that they control for some reason (like tax avoidance)? It's still a conflict of interest and dodgy - as with most of the things this govt does
