Is it normal not to feel hungry after taking levo ?

I am on levo 50 mcg & 75 mcg alternate days for years now. I normally take my tabs at 6 am & by 8 am I used to feel hungry to the point like as if I was starving from 3 days & have a full breakfast. However from about 3 weeks I do not feel that hunger after taking my tablets. Is something wrong with my dosage or anything else ? I do not feel any other unusual symptoms other than not feeling hungry throughout the day & have only one meal a day & a fruit in the evening.

Just thinking if I should have my bloods done or is this normal ? Any suggestions or ideas anyone ? Thanks

That’s a very low dose, unless you are extremely petite

Anything changed recently.

Different brand of levothyroxine?

Any different vitamin supplements

Or different medications

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

List of private testing options

Medichecks Thyroid plus vitamins including folate (private blood draw required)

Thriva Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins By DIY fingerpick test

Thriva also offer just vitamin testing

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins by DIY fingerprick test

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off if go on thyroid uk for code

I use to feel hungry or thought I was. I’ve now learnt it was actually low energy. Low energy disguised as hunger. I was under medicated.

Your TSH really needs to be about 1.00. If it’s over 2.5 then you are hypo even if the NHS is 0.35-5.50. The NHS ranges are too wide. I was informed of this by my private Endocrinologist.

I’d get a blood test T4,T3 and TSH to see what’s going on.
