TSI (thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin)

TRAb (TSH receptor antibodies)

Are you thinking of one of the private labs recommended here?

How old is your daughter?

Only Blue Horizon will test under 18s and only Medichecks test TRAb (venous blood draw only) but Medichecks wont do tests for under 18s.

That test bundle tests Thyroid Peroxidase and Thyroglobulin antibodies which are for Hashi's. None of the test bundles include the TRAb test.

Be aware that the Medichecks (and it's a random thyroid related test on a Thursday, not always the same one) is venous blood draw only for the Thyroid Check ULTRAVIT WITH FOLATE. There is the ULTRAVIT which can be done by fingerprick but it doesn't include Folate which is important to test alongside B12.

Medichecks have never had an offer on the TRAb test.

Blue Horizon Thyroid PREMIUM GOLD does the full thyroid/vitamin (including Folate) bundle and it can be done by fingerprick. Again, no TRAb test included.

Generous discount code for Blue Horizon Premium tests can be found here:

Thank you ever so much ..the blue horizon one you say can be a finger prick test ,can it also be done with a venous blood draw?

Yes, there is either option with Blue Horizon, it's just that the venous blood draw is the more expensive option. If she wants a venous blood draw then she could do either Medichecks or Blue Horizon, check out the cost and where the clinics are for each.

AmI right in thinking that if I did the big blood test which included the two antibodies ,if the thyroglobulin came back positive and the Hashimoto’s one didn’t would it then be an indication of Graves’ disease and then I could go on to have the TRAb test done. Hope that makes some sense 🤦‍♀️

You can be negative for TPO antibodies but positive for Tg antibodies and that could be Hashi's. The only way to test for Graves is TSI/TRAbs.
