Has anyone with hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism struggled with blood sugar issues that lead to insomnia? I don’t have diabetes but I have something in between and it’s not hypoglycemia, either. But if I eat more than 30 or so grams of carbs in a day, even when I eat them with protein and fats and especially if I eat them later in the day, my blood sugar can spike and then go way low. Then I get real sleepy and if I fall asleep I wake up in the middle of the night and cannot get back to sleep, due to the cortisol that might be trying to balance the blood sugar. If I have a protein drink when I’m sleepy, I’m much better and sleep ok, I’m a bit confused and wondering if anyone knows a book I could read or if you deal with this, too. I’d really appreciate some help. Thank you, Megan

I have similar issues - no answers unfortunately , but looking forward to reading the replies to your post.
I have Hashimoto’s too - one of my (Many)symptoms prior to diagnosis and medication was blood sugar issues where I would fall asleep very quickly after eating carbs - particularly in the afternoon or evening. I would then be wide awake 10-15 mins later. This then affects my night time sleep pattern.
As long as I am not under medicated (T4 and T3 in top 25% range) then I don’t have these issues.
I would suggest that you make sure that you are not under medicated by checking your T4 and T3 levels?
