My daughter recently had a thyroid blood test (TSH and T4). What could these results mean?

These are unusal results, normally TSH would be high with fT4 being low normal. This could indicate a pituitary problem but more often occurs during illness, depression or strict dieting. It can also happen if she has had a period of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) which may go unnoticed.

I would ask for further investigations includine measuring fT3 which is important in this case.

What are her signs and symptoms? Does she have some other illness or worries?
