Naltrexone...do people get this through their GP?
It’s prescription only.
I take LDN for early rheumatoid arthritis, but I have to get it on private prescription. NHS GPs could prescribe it on a 'named patient' basis, but in practice they don't.
As far as I know, there is only one pharmacy in the UK which compounds and dispenses LDN: Dickson's in Glasgow. They mail it to any UK patient who can provide a prescription.
hi, there is a facebook group for LDN users. I managed to source some LDN several years ago ( low dose so no prescription) I afraid I can't remember where I got it and I didnt take it in the end so cant help there either. It is out there however and the Facebook group might be able to help.
Hi, I take LDN and got my GP to prescribe it for me but I have to pay for it privately. It's about £20/month from the Dicksons pharmacy mentioned above, they post it out to you if you have a prescription. I have Hashi's and I think the LDN has helped however it was a gradual process, not the 'miracle cure' some people have experienced. I still have out of range antibodies but much better control of the symptoms. I used info from the LDN research trust website to persuade my GP.
Personally I think LDN is just one of the many things you can do to get Hashi's in control, such as diet, supplements, lifestyle, exercise and so on, so it's worth exploring but don't be despondent if you can't persuade your GP to prescribe it for you.

I have just started to take it so too early to assess its effectiveness.
