Hello lovely people, I am just wondering about acid reflux and under active thyroid/ Hashimotos and gum health . Does anyone suffer from this and is it linked to thyroid or would it be associated with a deficiency ?
I can’t seem to tolerate any medication but I am seeing a Kinesiologist who is helping get to the route cause of my Hashimotos.
Is it silly not to be on medication?
Thank you

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Have you had thyroid antibodies tested?
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If in the UK
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
Depends what your thyroid hormone levels are like. Do you always get a print-out of your results, with the ranges? If so, post them here and let's have a look. As Hashi's swings from hypo to 'hyper', you can have quite long periods of euthyroidism, when you don't need thyroid hormone replacement. And, of course, it does depend how much damage has already been done to your thyroid by the Hashi's.
Curious to know what your Kinesiologist is doing to find the root cause, and what difference he thinks that will make.
Thank you for your reply. I had bloods taken and a thyroid scan two days ago so I will post here when results come back. With regards to root cause , I’ve been clearing a lot of emotional issues that would have caused high stress levels .
