Does anyone know of medications (like codeine) that are manufactured without lactose fillers please?

What medications in particular? We know there are lactose free Levothyroxine brands but I think you'd need to look up the individual medication you want and possibly a pharmacist might have specific information about each brand's ingredients..

Hello Seaside Susie

Like I said at the beginning it is codeine that I am having trouble with just now. I was also prescribed some medication for an over active bladder which I declined to take because of the Lactose filler.

I am on Liothyronine only but I can cope with the amount of lactose in that and in other tablets that I take. But I am not the

only person who is lactose intolerant so I thought that someone might know of a source to help me.

I have spent time with both pharmacists and doctors but no help so far.

Well it looks as though there is a Specialist Pharmacy Service to help the NHS/pharmacies where lactose could be a problem for patients so it seems as though your pharmaciests and doctors aren't being particularly helpful:

medicines.necsu.nhs.uk/lact...

and you can see if there is anything else which Google throws up if you do a search for "lactose free codeine uk".

I just found a 15/500 co-codamol:

Zentiva Co-Codamol 15/500 Tablets

medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

Many, but not all, medicines are documented on this site:

medicines.org.uk/emc/

I struck lucky, it was the first codeine-containing medicine I looked at! If you look through you will find full ingredients in section 6.1 of the Patient Information Leaflets.

Hi there - before lactose free milks etc. I had a terrible time - thank goodness Arla now make the butter cream cheese and milk etc. - but before this I took a tablet which supplied an enzyme which is quite harmless and Nature's Best have these but there will be others if you look on the internet. They worked for me anyway - you pop a tablet before eating lactose products. Hope this helps
