I think I have posted for advice re. eye problem before and for a time was taking Hycosan, hycosan extra and hycosan night which provided quite a bit of ease. However no longer working...anyone got any other suggestions?, opticians only dealing with emergencies at present.

You could try a heat mask for eyes the ones you put in the microwave , I had blepharitis and really helped , i used it twice a day and then gently massaged my eyelids , you can buy them on line , stopped the itching and dry eyes , worth a try until you can see an Optician.

Have a look at VitaPos, it’s a gunky ointment you use at bedtime. A flannel wrung out in hot water and held over your eyes is good or you could get an eye bag that you put in the microwave to hold over your eyes. I’ve been using an eye wash I bought in Tesco, comes with an eye bath and I’ve found that really good, think it’s intended for contact lens wearers. I also f8nd Blephawipes are helpful too.

I find after I while I have to change eye drops, I always use something that is preservative free and I put them in loads of times during the day - not just morning and night. You could try Artelac or Blink or Viscotears, I’ve also used SnoTears as recommended by my rheumatologist- had to buy them from an online chemist but they were very cheap and worked a treat ..... for a while - don’t think they are preservative free but it didn’t seem to matter.

I’ve just bought Optichrom antihistamine drops because the pollen has made my eyes very itchy as well as being dry.

Thank you for these many helpful suggestions I will investigate . Hope to find something that works as I don't really like optician visits

Hey there Foxglove

In my experience, providing you buy preservative free, there are many options available and it's just a case of experimenting, but also remember that you may find you need to try different options from time to time.

Thanks, I understand the need to "experiment"...and how!

I clean my eyes with a mixture of baby shampoo, just a couple of drops and warm water. Use a Q tip and clean all the roots of the eyelashes at least twice a day. This was advice from the optician. A couple of days and I was clear. Now I do them regularly as a precaution. I also use Hycosan twice a day.

I have tried the baby shampoo before but alas if anything it irritated - well we're all different. At present I have just started colloidal silver eye drops (recommended by my daughter) too soon to tell yet but here's hoping...

Thanks, me too! I know itchy dry eyes probably more irritating than serious and I have every sympathy with those who have the real serious problems, think t the moment I'm in a sorry for myself mode!!!

How are your eyes now foxglove? I take lutein & zeazanthin (eye complex 7 from Amazon) and black seed oil for dryness. I’ve found both really help. Also use HycoSan Extra lots.

Thanks for asking, somewhat better at the moment, I have been using colloidal silver drops and hycosan extra, also good old hypromellose if I find eyes sting too much from other drops

Will check your recommendations on Amazon though. Not leave any stone unturned!
