For many years we had an electric hob and to turn it on you just had to touch the appropriate symbols on the hob. On many occasions I had to call my husband in as the hob ignored me. There was never any problem for my husband. Recently I have been shown how to use google translate on messages on my Samsung smartphone. I Have had my husband stand next to me telling me where to place my finger etc. except that nothing happens. He puts his finger on and the message lights up strait-away with a list of possible commands which include copy. It therefore is me and not my phone.
Is this yet another problem of thyroid that I have to learn to live with??
Maybe my hypo. causes my my fingers to be too cold??
Or can anyone suggest anything else I can do to solve this problem.

From time-to-time, I find this with both hobs, but other touch screen items. For me, it usually happens when my hands are very dry. In my case, the skin on my hands gets dry and sometimes cracks, if I touch bread too often. I do eat a strictly GF diet, but touching bread happens if I prepare a sandwich, with bare hands, for my OH on anything like a regular basis.
If I get to that stage where touch screen items reject me, I find if I apply handcream - and ensure it is well absorbed - it all works. I routinely use handcream regularly, but sometimes life gets in the way of routines.
Of course, I seem to be atypical everything, so my experiences could be unique to me, but I'm not a great believer in that.
Try a decent handcream for a few days and see what happens.
Don't know about links with thyroid. I can use an Android phone but an iPhone can't "see" my finger - apparently they use different touch methods. I've seen a video of people using a cocktail sausage on a phone, so temp shouldn't matter.
Touch screens regularly ignore me... Takes repeated attempts at the best of times for my existence to be acknowledged... As in typing this...sigh... Kind of used to it. I have two different tablets and my phone and all the same. Seriously it's enough to give you a complex, but I refuse lol
