Don't stop taking your medication because you need to remain well to continue with your work. Can you call in at your surgery and tell them you are a key worker and ask for a repeat prescription ?

The system is put prescription in wait 5 days go up to surgery and wait while they make it up at least a 2 hr wait .... before lockdown had to wait ages while they made up meds hence why I went online .... now that system can’t cope and is in overload .... I have no time to stand and wait when I’m not working they are shut....

I agree with helvella there are pharmacists that can give prescriptions. Could you ring round and find one that can help you?

I very much agree - don't stop taking your regular medicine.

Maybe you could ask a pharmacy directly? Obviously, try your usual one. There is increased support for pharmacists to give out at least tide-you-over quantities.

Reading your reply above, looks like yours is a dispensing GP surgery?

Still worth trying other pharmacies. If you physically go to one to ask, take whatever you can to verify what you are prescribed (e.g. screenshot of details, old packs, etc.)

You would become very unwell and be very likely unable to work if you stopped taking levothyroxine

Can someone pick your levothyroxine up for you?

Some pharmacies do home deliveries

Electronic prescription can be sent to pharmacy of your choice

My GP allows you to nominate a pharmacy and will send the meds there for you to collect. I use the local Superdrug who are excellent (and much much quicker than the pharmacy next door to the doctor). Last time I picked up meds for my son, they said that I could drop off repeat prescriptions to them as well [allow another couple of days] instead of taking them to the GP - or use their app.

Can you try something similar?

Hi, if you haven’t any medication left and can’t get in touch with the doctor quickly, your best bet is it to wait until a Saturday or Sunday. Go into the pharmacy or ring up first and tell them you have none left. If the doctors aren’t open then they have to give you an emergency supply of medication.
