How many of their doctors will be clueless as to why we are enduring these things? What will they mistakenly attribute them to? aging, stress, or other diseases?
Anything doctors don't understand is attributed to mental illness [of the patient] - usually depression or anxiety.
Another possibility is the doctor thinks the patient is lying, attention-seeking, a hypochondriac or is one of the "worried well".
Very interesting blog post. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, diogenes.
Thank you for posting diogenes These are aspects of thyroid disease where my knowledge is especially lacking.
Really useful blog .
I've been trying to get my head round all the different antibodies for a while.
Its no wonder they just teach doctors that odd results must be caused by non compliant patient's ~ that's so much easier to teach.
My head hurts !....Can i have a Merit Badge when i understand how they all work, please ?
I don’t know how many times over the decades I have told Drs that I am up there one minute and floored the next, fluctuating, erratic, no obvious triggers.. one told me the thyroid does not do that. Mine did! Got plenty of ‘patient is anxious about her health’ in records, not anxious....down right frustrated as not one listening.
