I’m on new drugs for recently discovered under active thyroid and after reading some other information from the US would like to know if there is a connection between thyroid (underactivity) and gout?

I believe there is a connection between the two:

Luckily gout is one thing I have managed to avoid! My dad had it - nasty.

Both hyperthyroid and hypothyroid status were significantly associated with gout and weakly associated with hyperuricaemia. A thyroid function test for gout patients may by warranted.

It certainly was for me. Lost a kidney to cancer whilst on inadequate treatment for loss of thyroid gland followed by gout and carpal tunnel syndrome.

No doctor has ever indicated to me that these are related to hypothyroidism.
