best Levothyroxine brand?

could you please suggest two or three best Levothyroxine brand. I am aware the Actavis brand is considered a No! No for many on this platform including me. i was unwell until i travelled without actavis and had to order a diffetent brand as top up, the difference was clear. What brand is considered safe by many without any negative reaction.

Actavis is the most popular brand, Teva is the one many have problems with but everyone is different so it's what suits you that matters.

As bantam12 says, we're all different. If you are lactose intolerant, Teva is best - although otherwise it's the one most people struggle with. Some of us don't mind what we take and can switch between brands quite happily; others find it best to stick to the same brand. If you fall into this camp, you may be able to get the brand stipulated on your prescriptions - or befriend your local pharmacist - or be vigilant at the chemists when you collect your prescription.

I've been using Actavis brand for donkeys years, never had a problem with it.

Updated in October 2019, not sure if there have been any changes since.

Actavis is also rebranded as Almus for Boots and Northstar for Lloyds pharmacy so all are the same tablets - Actavis (soon to be renamed Accord if not already).

There are only four formulations available in the UK! If you are knocking one out, that only leaves three! So two or three is 'the rest'.

I take 100 micrograms Accord (Actavis) and 25 micrograms Mercury Pharma.

Helvella that is interesting that you dose with two different brands . May I ask you why ?

Very simple - Actavis do not make a 25 microgram tablet and my prescription is for 100 + 25.

I didn't like all Mercury Pharma - I get the impression that they deliver their dose faster but by the time my next dose is due, I feel slightly under. (99% of that could be in my head. But that is what it feels like.) Actavis seem a bit slower but I don't feel that I am under before the next dose.

Out of choice, I'd prefer L-Thyroxin Henning or UniPharma, out of the ones I have tried.

My personal choice ( although I’d rather not have to take any) is Eltroxin made by Aspen Pharma Trading.
