Hai all, I developed a nagging tense musclepain in my left upperleg, crawling up to my back a litle and kneepain calves too. I had read ppl with thyroid issues suffer from.this. But with me it comes after medication. I wonder is it the medication or the thyroid problem causing it?

Hi, the connection to thyroid/meds is new to me. I too suffer with pain in these locations on my right side. It makes walking difficult and is a nagging pain that restricts activity. Its along the sciatic nerve.

I'm undiagnosed so it would be good to know whether this is a typical symptom of a thyroid disorder.

sorry you’re felling so much pain too!

I am diagnosed Graves’ disease Feb 2019 and was hyper then went hypo from

Meds. Now normal (so they say).

I have had pain down my shoulder arm, hip and leg only on left side for several months. I’m off meds now about 6 weeks. When first diagnosed My knees were affected too and sometimes had pain walking before on medication feeling like I was going to fall. I am sorry I do not know if the pain is medication or just a symptom of thyroid disease.

I stay away from gluten and I heard diet highly affects inflammation and pain. Vitamin levels are also extremely important.

I wish I could help better and hope you find answers and feel better!!!

Mine shoulders are tense too! I have been tense since diagnosed. Always tight. Have had physical therapy and acupuncture. Just who has the time to do this every week. Physical therapy and acupuncture. Unfortunately off meds I’m still in pain. Only left side. At ENT today to check CT scan of sinuses because I have a deviated septum. Next I’m checking for TMJ. I have neck and lower back issues MRIs have confirmed. Going to try Epidural shots. Weird all on my left side...same side as deviated septum.

Hope you are feeling well soon!

That is helpful. Who diagnosed your Graves ? Which blood tests suggested you had that condition?

I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, the grave yard of diagnosis. Which means everything I experience is because of it, according to doctors.

Walking is a perennial problem for me. I am seeing a podiatrist soon, I have faith they will help me to reduce the horror of walking.

2 different Endocrinologists diagnosed Graves When diagnosed with Graves :

Anti-TPO was 752 H <35 IU/mL on 4/18/19

Anti-TPO was 7774 H <35 IU/mL on 3/11/19

TSI 2.40. <0.56 IU/L on 4/18/19

TSI. 2.93 On 3/11/19

Paperwork say abnormal range for patients with hyperthyroid Graves is <0.55 IU/L

The connection is an indirect one. Those who are hypothyroid (especially if you have Hashimoto's) are prone to low levels of certain nutrients. Ask your doctor to check your blood levels of Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Calcium, Magnesium, Ferritin, and Folate. Supplement if low or below range.

This calculator will help you figure out how much Vitamin D to take to reach a target range.

In the U.S., Vitamin D tends to be measured in ng/ml, while in the UK it is more often measured as nmol/L. The Vitamin D Society recomments: Maintain your Vitamin D level

between 100 – 150 nmol/L

If you are menopausal or taking a medication that might adversely affect bone density, doctors often prescribe 800 IU of Vitamin D (actually, not enough) and supplemental Calcium. Supplemental calcium is very dangerous if you already get adequate calcium from your diet. I do, and I don't even drink milk!

Question everything.

As for muscle pain low B12 can create this problem, as can low magnesium. If your B12 levels are low, you might need injections to get levels up to healthy levels.

I had a pain that centered on my right thigh, just above the knee. It would ache badly if I had to sit or stand for long periods. It felt better if I elevated my right foot. It finally abated when I began taking 500 mg of magnesium glycinate. This is a form that does not induce bowel movements like magnesium citrate.

I have 78 vit d, range is here in Hollamd between 50 to 150 nmoL. I am after menopause do not take calcium. I try to have more tested , b12 was good now.

I had this pain in my leg only one day but I started indeed magnesiumspray again (my fault, should use it every day).Magnesium on skin is better I read.

I have bought myself nature s answer vit d and k2 but not use regualry which i should, as what dr prescribes its not natural.
