Well!!!thought it was only me .. so said nothing about it!!!but had ablation because of hyperthytoid but now hypo and on levo..pain and sensitivity in my teeth and pain in ears started with taking levo.. sensitive toothpaste helps with tooth pain but ears is a different ball game...stuff cotton in them outside in cold..does help...levo has a lot to answer for!!!!
This happened to me recently when I went from 1.25 grains to 1.5 grains (both doses had 25mcg T4 added as well).
I thought maybe I was taking too much T3 for me so I went back to taking 125mcg Synthroid with 5mcg T3. Sensitivity went away. All fine now.
I was so worried that my enamel was rotting away, but it turned out it was just another weird thyroid thing.
(Also, just to note, for people with sensitivity problems but who are trying to avoid fluoride, try a toothpaste with nano-hydroxyapatite, it works just as well and is non-toxic!)
Wanted to add an update on this topic:
For a couple of months I raised my dose from 125mcg to 150mcg of Synthroid. Tooth sensitivity came back with a vengeance. Labs showed that my T4 had risen above the normal range. Reduced dose to 137mcg and, within a couple of weeks, tooth sensitivity was gone again. Maybe something to do with excessive T4, or overly-suppressed TSH? In any case, it's become a predictable pattern for me.
