Folate - What’s a maintenance dose?

Hi,

I’m on 5mg folic acid tablets for three months after testing low on folate. If my levels have risen suitably when I have a blood test what would a maintenance dose be?

I think I may struggle to get my gp to regularly check my blood other than for my yearly thyroid check so I will be using thriva myself.

Thank you!

best form of folate is dietary - so if you haven't reviewed your diet yet make sure it has plenty of fruit and veg in it.

generally 400mcg is recommended supplement levels - you may need slightly more if you have an absorption problem - but avoid taking more than 1000mcg/1mg
