It's really quite frustrating trying to lose weight with Hashimoto's. I have always done exercise and fitness to lose or maintain weight. Initially, when diagnosed with hashi and started to take Levo, I lost weight but now I have stabilized, weight loss is non-existent, no matter what I do. I eat very healthily and don't overindulge now and still do a fair amount of exercise (as much as I can) even though at times I am exhausted thereafter. The only consolation for me is that I am not putting weight on. I do wonder if I was not so strict with food whether the weight would pile on or wouldn't make any difference. I know we are all very different in this respect.
How much Levothyroxine are you currently taking and is it always the same brand?
With Hashimoto's low FT3 is common problem
Exercise depletes FT3 as well
What were you latest results?
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
Is Hashimotos under active or over active, I have an under active thyroid, but my doctor told me it would be easy to lose weight because of the tablets I am taking. He more or less said my thyroid makes no difference to weight loss.
Hashimoto is under-active active. I thought the same in that when you are on the right dose of levo there is no reason not to be able to lose weight by exercise and diet but that doesn't seem to be the case. Perhaps there are other factors affecting me like menopause? It definitely can't be over eating or lack of exercise on my part.
