Do you need to adjust NDT dose in summer? If so do you increase or degrease? I was feeling great now feeling crap so was wondering if my dose needed adjustment because if the increase in temperature?

I take a combination of Levo and T3 and have never had to alter my dose in the summer.

You have Hashi's, could this be the reason - hormone levels and symptoms fluctuate with Hashi's so maybe this is what's causing it. You could try a dose adjustment and see how you feel.

Thanks SeasideSusie I have adjusted my dose but I was wondering if anyone had similar. I keep forgetting that people with Hashimotos fluctuate thanks for the reminder. 🤪

Dr. Blanchard referred to this as the “seasonal change” and found that some of his patients felt better with a slight decrease in warmer months and slight increase in colder months. I have found this to be true. I decreased my dose a while back and will be increasing it in a couple months (I’m in the USA)

I forgot to add, I’m on Levo and liothyronine. It’s my Levo that gets adjusted. Not sure if I will also have to now adjust my liothyronine as well.

Thanks for the response. I’m not feeling great and was looking for a reason but it could just as easily be because I have Hashimoto’s. I might try dropping my dose for a few days see how I feel 🤪

I follow the same protocol as yourself milkwomen . I learned from the Great Dr Blanchard's book . His Protocol is *Spot ON* for me . I too have my T4 adjusted lower in the summer and a bit higher in the fall winter season while my NDT stays the same all year round for now .

I don’t take T4 only NDT would I adjust my NDT? Sorry I’m relatively new to this.

You would need an open minded Dr to work with you . I only raise my T4 and very small amount and since I don't do well with higher doses of T3 from my NDT I just hold on to the same NDT dose that I'm on and it works for me that way .

Not everyone needs to raise their thyroid dose for the fall/winter months . I lowered my T4 for the summer and felt better that way . I was able to tolerate the heat better that way .
