Fed up with feeling unwell. Not only am I suffering from hashimoto's but now also menopausal symptoms. Last thyroid test in July was borderline normal. My sleep is erratic, hot flushes are horrendous, muscles ache, shoulder injury not healed in a year, headaches. Been looking at fx menopause but ingredients is Mung dal which is high in phytoestrogens. Highest is from soy beans but I've read somewhere that soy beans is not good for hashimoto's? Also read if soy beans are eaten this reduces absorption of iodine levels?

List of HR products available in the UK.

There are bio identicals available on the NHS which your GP could prescribe for you. These include Oestrogel (oestrogen gel), Utrogestan (a bioidentical progesterone tablet), vaginal oestrogen such as Vagifem (estradiol) or topical Ovestin cream.Jul 27, 2017

Looking at the list of foods high in Phytoestrogens on this site, I don't see any reason not to go for it. medicalnewstoday.com/articl... But, I would want to avoid the soy products, as I've heard that soy has potential interactions with thyroid hormones. If after a while you feel it's not working, you can still explore other options.

Soy can impede the uptake of iodine by the thyroid gland. But, if you're on thyroid hormone replacement, that isn't the problem. What soy also does is impede the uptake of thyroid hormones by the cells. So, you can have good levels of hormone in the blood, but if it's not getting into the cells, you will still have hypo symptoms. That's why soy should be avoided. :)

I had excruciating shoulder pain for over a year, until, after reading advice on here, I took magnesium citrate and the shoulder was as good as new in about a week - miraculous! I also supplement vitamin D3 with MK2-7 and that helps with energy, sleep and mood. I'm on 100mcg levo a day.

I wonder if you’re undertreated. Do these symptoms disappear on a slightly higher dose of thyroid hormone?
