TSH - 1.41 mlU/L (.40-4)

FT3 - 11.5 pmol/L (9-19)

Hi everyone. This is my latest lab resaults. I have had Hashimoto’s since 8 years old, I’m currently on Levothyroxine 150mcg. Can someone please help me with understanding these results?

My antibodies are always high because of Hashimoto’s and that’s why my endo doesn’t do them anymore.

I have no T-3 hormone in my country so she doesn’t do that hormone neither.

Is my FT3 too low? How can I get it up?

Is my TSH higher than it should be?

I think the FT3 result posted above is the FT4 result ! It looks very low in the range. How do you take your Levo ? It would be better for the result to be higher. It is possible your T3 will also be low and could explain your anxiety.

Have you tested B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD ?

Yes it is. My mistake!

I take my Levo in the morning 30 mins before coffee/breakfast. I don’t know how to get my results up in the higher range? And how to increase T3?

My Ferritin and VitD levels were very low 6 months ago and now I’m taking supplements for them. Folate and B12 were fine.

For some of us it is better to leave one hour before eating to ensure good absorption of your T4. It could improve your FT4 result.

Here's full test results from 6 months ago

Suggest you get vitamin levels retested. See how much they have improved

Noticed in another post you have recently given up smoking. Well done ....this can alter how much Levothyroxine you need

verywellhealth.com/cigarett...

Results suggest you need dose increase in Levothyroxine

The aim of Levothyroxine is to increase the dose slowly in 25mcg steps upwards until TSH is under 2 (many people with Hashimoto's need TSH significantly under one) and most important is that FT4 in top third of range and FT3 at least half way in range

ask your doctor for dose increase in Levothyroxine. Perhaps 150mcg/175mcg alternate days .....or 175mcg everyday

Retesting in 6-8 weeks

FT4 result should be at least above 16

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours before test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Have you tried changing your diet to strictly gluten free?

This helps many Hashimoto's patients. Can reduce anxiety too

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/300...

The obtained results suggest that the gluten-free diet may bring clinical benefits to women with autoimmune thyroid disease

nuclmed.gr/wp/wp-content/up...

In summary, whereas it is not yet clear whether a gluten free diet can prevent autoimmune diseases, it is worth mentioning that HT patients with or without CD benefit from a diet low in gluten as far as the progression and the potential disease complications are concerned

Hello SlowDragon

Thank you for replying.

I have noticed that my TSH and FT4 levels indeed are getting worse. Last time my TSH was .96 and FT4 something above 14. Last summer I was on the same dosage of Levo and my TSH was .34 and I felt good! I managed to lose weight, walk a lot, do activities... Since last summer I gained 10 kgs. No dosage change tho, even tho I heard that weight changes could also dictate dosage changes. The thing about gluten is interesting... I am addicted to pasta, pizza, bread and all the carbs... BUT I have been having this stomach pain for a long time now that I don’t know where it came from.

All of my blood tests are done in a way I found out they should be on this forum.

So you could try strictly gluten free diet for minimum of 6-8 weeks and retest thyroid levels before trying an increase in levothyroxine

You may find significant improvement in symptoms and possibly blood results too
