Cocunut oil side effects! Pls reply soon π
I've not really heard of coconut oil as a treatment for the thyroid before, but I can't imagine adding a tbsp a day would cause your symptoms. Have you made any other changes at the same time as bringing in the coconut oil?
No... Other than Cocunut oil I didnt do anything new ππππ
Shouldn't have anything other than water for at least an hour after taking Levothyroxine
Okk
I agree with SlowDragon. The oil could be affecting the absorption of your levo.
Yaa i agree but these symptoms i mentioned could it be due to less absorbtion of eltroxin huh??
Absolutely, yes.
Get full Thyroid and vitamin testing 6-8 weeks after you have stopped taking this coconut oil
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
You should NOT take/eat anything within an hour of taking your meds or you will stop them being absorbed. I suspect that you are not digesting fat very well. Why on earth are you eating it on its own? It's not a supplement; it's a food. If you want to use coconut oil, use for cooking, or in coffee (as for butter coffee) and build up the amount gradually, especially if you have been eating a low fat diet previously. You might find it useful to take a lipase or ox bile supplement with fatty meals.
Thanks mam for replying.yes mam u r right, usually I don't take much fats earlier...today I stopped taking Cocunut oil, nothing to worry na mam bcos I am hypochondriac... Cocunut oil effects wil it go immediately today since I stopped it or wil take days for it to subsidize mam, kindly reply
No idea. I've never had any adverse effects from adding coconut oil to food. You need fat to make hormones, but if you don't eat any your body forgets how to digest it and you end up with gall bladder problems
Hmmm

I eat fatty foods often but wil take so much time to digest it
Try a lipase supplement then
Thank you
