I have read on a number of posts that when you start taking Levo your thyroid stops producing hormones, i.e. the Levo isn’t topping up it is replacing, which explains my shocking fatigue and the worst diarrhoea I’ve ever experienced!
Can I ask if the thyroid remains suppressed forever, or does it start up again?
Is there any medical research which outlines the above so I can show my GP, as I get the feeling she thinks I’m just being dramatic.
Thanks
Rob

I think that happens a lot, but I'm not sure it always happens. However, the thyroid doesn't stay suppressed. Should you, for any reason, stop taking your levo, the thyroid would just go back to doing whatever it did before you started taking the levo. But, personally, I don't know of any medical research on that subject.
GPs have very, very limited understanding of thyroid.
Very much depends on your thyroid. There's no hard an fast rule. But, as I said, should you stop taking levo for any reason, it would just go back to making the amount it was making before.
