A quick question out of curiosity, as I realise we are all different, but for those of you who are hashi's and are settled and happy with your t4/t3 combo dose, I'd be interested to know what it is. I'd be especially interested to know if you are about my age (43) and otherwise fit and active. Do you find that activity levels and seasonal temperature changes affect your requirements?
Also interested to know when you take it and if and how you split your dose.
Thanks all xx

Hey Laundretta. I’m not sure I’m a great one to answer. Im only nearly 3mths into my combo treatment but I did take to it very well. And I just turned 45.
April - 150/175 Levo
April - 125/150 Levo plus 15mcg T3(split dose x3)
End May/June- 125/150 Levo plus 20mcg T3. All taken in one in the morning.
My FT3 was usually around 3.5 (3.5-6.5) last test on added 15mcg it was 4.8. So I added the other 5mcg as I still had a bit of constipation and hard period. I started cautiously with splitting 15mcg into 3 doses. But after a couple of weeks I cut out the afternoon dose, taking it in the morning instead. Then as I seemed to be someone who was not sensitive to adding T3 I just took all of it in the morning. I’ve had no side affects, except maybe a little more sweaty in the heat but I wear an Apple Watch so I know my resting heartbeat is good. All symptoms gone now except for sore joints, I don’t know if they’ll ever fully go away. I’ve just started back to running and gym so I ache a lot. I think it’s just a very wobbly body groaning at getting back into shape! I haven’t noticed any difference atm in tiredness from starting exercising again. I think it’s too soon to tell. I’ll know if I’m being affected if I need a small afternoon nap again.
I’m 53 and can’t get settled on any dose whatsoever! Simply no idea if I’m under or over medicated - with sore glands, earache, I think I’m taking too much (of one or both) but muscle cramps and sore feet, weak wrists, bad eyes etc etc make me feel under! So have started AIP and am just doing 50/5. Will do medichecks in a few weeks but my Endo says all the readings will be useless! Only bloods he’s ordered for me are for lipids. So will be interested in other replies here. Anyway, I don’t feel awful - have to keep reminding myself I’m so much better than I was.
I’m curious to know why you say the medichecks results will be useless? I’m hypo and feel I have still got hypo symptoms but GP won’t do tests other than TSH and T4. I did medichecks testing before and discovered I have high TG antibodies (new to me!) and appear to have problems converting T4 to T3. Unfortunately I didn’t do the tests properly last time and have just sent off bloods to medichecks today. Last time I brought test results in to gp she wouldn’t even look at them as they hadn’t done them but still refused to do them for me. Catch 22!
My Endo actually asked me last time if I’d had my t3 done privately - I said yes and showed him - he says oh yes that’s what I would have thought you’re not converting well and gave me t3. So he’s not anti private tests. He just said when you’re on t3, the results are kind of pointless. I read it elsewhere too, I’ll see if I can find it. Anyway I’m going to do the tests for a general look.
