I looked at your old posts and you were having fever at night 6 months ago. I am not sure the fever is related to your taking the levo. The rash is a different story.
What brand of levo are you taking? Some brands cause allergic reactions like rashes. Apparently some people on the forum have issues with Teva. Others have allergies to the dyes or fillers in their brands.
Do you have an antihistamine you can take to help with the rash? It may give you some relief.
It may be that another brand might work better for you if you have had this problem since you started. I am not the expert on this - so I will defer to others on the forum who know more than I do here. I wish I could help with the different brands offered in the UK. In Canada we only have 3. All the best, and sorry I can’t offer further advice here.
I also saw another post from 5 months ago about a rash and fever at night as well - it seems these symptoms have not been resolved for you after all this time - I feel so bad for you! It’s awful to be up at this hour on your side of the pond and suffering this way. Can your daughter go to the doctor’s with you on Monday? Is there an emergency clinic on the weekend?
I do not believe this is from the levo - based on your past posts, you have an underlying condition that has not been diagnosed properly. It may be related to hypothyroidism as was suggested by Heloise and pennyannie.
Also, you have only been on levo for a week - you would need at least 6 to see some results with respect to your hypothyroidism if in fact the fever and rash are related to that. Do you have your latest bloodwork? Can you post it tomorrow? (What was taken when you got your prescription for levo). There are others more experienced than me who can see if you are possibly being underdosed.
I am truly sorry that you are having such a bad time - please update here tomorrow and let us know how you are doing . Wishing you all the best.
Thank you Greek Chick, it has been going on for over a year and I’m exhausted.. I did put my blood test results in here ... will try and find them again. There’s no GP till Monday and walk in medical centres have sent me home before ...
So I read all your posts today with bloodwork. radd has given you some excellent information . And without the T3, it’s hard to interpret your results. If your MD will not give you that test, you may want to consider doing the Medichecks so you can get the full panel of bloodwork. You have no antibody results either - these are essential.
So if you have an appointment next week, see how it goes. Ask your MD for the all bloodwork SlowDragon has suggested and post everything when you get it. You will get a lot of help from the experts on this forum.
I know it is rough for you - you have been dismissed by many in the health care field. And without sleep and your symptoms, it’s no wonder that you feel so exhausted! Sleep is restorative, and without it we can’t recover from what ails us.
I hope you feel better soon and get some answers. Your symptoms have been going on for a long time now, and you deserve some relief and sleep. Wishing you all the best.
Rashes are a common symptom seen in people who are intolerant to fillers in their thyroid meds. You might have to eventually try a different brand but to confirm this the reason, you could try taking an antihistamine with Levo and see if the rash is absent.
Night sweats can be a response to infection but more commonly seen during menopause or other hormonal imbalance such as adrenal issues. Waking between 3 & 4am can be a sign of unbalanced blood sugar levels. If night sweats have increased since you started Levo, this may be indicating flagging adrenals.
I didn’t believe it at the time but teva 25 seemed to give me an itchy arm rash. I’m usually mega suspicious of these things but changing to mercury pharma sorted it.
What were actual results and ranges of B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D tests?
If not all been tested ask that they are at next test
Plus thyroid antibodies need testing
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase in Levothyroxine
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
I was taking a generic brand of levothyroxine, and I had a rash on my chest, every once in a while trouble breathing, and all my hair started to fall out. My Endocrinologist kept saying that the levo couldn't be causing these symptoms and it was something else.
But I really campaigned to switch to Tirosint (brand of levothyroxine for people who have allergic reactions or are sensitive to the dyes or bindings of the normal brands). And within four or five days all my symptoms were gone.
Maybe it is something else causing these symptoms, but it never hurts to try different brands and see if you are having some kind of reaction to the medication! I really hope you feel better and get this figured out.
I have been experiencing night flushes and waking to pins and needles in my hand, i have also been having rapid heart rate and recently abnormal menstrual, fatigue during day as well as a heap of stress , i definitely think atm i have a hormonal inbalance going on of some sort, seeing specialist on wed.
