NatureThroid not available

Does anyone know what is going on with the NatureThroid Manufacturer. It isn’t available anymore. I am in the US. I am now taking Armour which is so much more expensive even with my insurance. Thanks for your help!

It is like there is a war going on with NDT availability, isn' t it? You might ask your doc to write a prescription for NP by Acella altho availability is getting spotty with that brand of NDT also. Some WP is available also. Check with your pharmacy and see what they have or what they can get for you, hopefully something other than Armour since you are correct. Armour is ridiculously expensive compared to the other NDTs.

I’ve heard the shortage of pig thyroid is the cause for its unavailability! Could this be true or is it “hogwash”?? 😜

There is a shortage of pig for all purposes. But it doesn't appear to be the reason with respect to RLC.

It is all a little complicated and convoluted, I am afraid. Armour started buying up all the 'approved' USP grade pig thyroid extract a few years back, forcing the other mfg. companies to buy their extract from Armour or find their own suppliers. RLC Labs (the maker of WP and Naturethroid) decided to develop their own sources of extract and it has become a nightmare of shortages or the new end product not performing as it had in the past. Then there was also rumors (maybe fact?) that there was a piglet virus decimating livestock and creating shortages. Who knows? Bottom line, it has become a real exercise in patience and ingenuity to find sources now.
