I’m a 17 year old girl. I have been to around ten doctors of different specialities and two GPs but none of them have been able to help me with this problem I’ve been having for the past three years. When I sit down and try to concentrate on something, my surroundings start swaying. I feel very nauseous and helpless. I have a bad posture and some doctors said it was because of that. But, I’ve improved a lot and it hasn’t helped. My haemoglobin used to be 2 but has now increased to 13. But even that hasn’t helped improve my condition. I feel like giving up. I am tired. I cant study and feel very helpless. My parents have tried to help me in every way possible but without success. I would be very grateful if anyone here knows what this might be. It has degraded my life quality and i haven’t even lived half of my life. Please help. Please, please, please help.

I'm afraid we can't help with diagnosing any condition, this is a patient to patient thyroid forum, we can help patients with thyroid problems but we are all patients, not medically trained.
If you have any thyroid test results you can post them, with reference ranges, for comment.
Can you get your parents to initiate private Thyriod and vitamin tests? You are at a tricky age, seen as an adult and independent from your parents by Gp’s after the age of 16 but not seen as an adult when it comes to private tests. There’s maybe one company that do under 18’s. But otherwise I’d just lie about your birth date. I’ve done this for my 17yr old. The private tests are either a fingerprick test or you can pay extra for a venous draw. We tried the fingerprick draw but it was unsuccessful and so I’m paying my GP surgery phlebotomist to use the Thriva venous to draw the blood.
Once you get these private tests done then you can post the results and many on here have a wealth of experience that they can help you.
Just keep going! Get as many tests as you can from your GP otherwise get them done privately and at some point you’ll tick one box or another. It must be soooo frustrating to want to be well and appreciate being 17 and yet you can’t 😔
Thank you so much for your suggestions. Ill take it up with my parents.
Hypothyroidism can cause tiredness and anaemia, (AND period problems etc, (and umpteen other things). It also interferes with absorbing nutrients in your gut. The most common things to be deficient in , if hypothyroid seem to be iron, folate, vitamin B12 and vitamin D. But blood tests may sometimes come back "Normal", meaning in range, which doesn't mean they arenecessarily normal for you.
But until you have the right tests you can't know for sure if it is your thyroid or something else.
Do you have any other symptoms? Thinning hair for example? A classic sign of hypothyroidism is losing the outer third of your eyebrows. Do you feel cold all the time? Have you had detailed blood tests (Full Blood Count)? You said your blood levels (I assume that was ferritin?) went up from 2 to 13, but you can have some kinds of anaemia even if ferritin levels are good.
I can't remember if anyone said to post your tests on here. In the UK you are entitled to free printed (or online) copies of tests. Ask the receptionist. If you can get them (as far back as possible) start a new thread and post them there.
I totally agree with what everyone else has said about getting as many tests as you can done - and then posting the results on here. One thing I also wanted to mention is - could it be vertigo? I had two bouts of vertigo last year, and it felt similar to what you are describing. It could have been related to the fact I have hashimoto's, but I think it was made worse by my posture! I went to a massage therapist who said that my neck was so tight! She said it was the worse she's seen in a long time! It soon started to slowly go away after the massage and neck exercises. I now do neck exercises every day and have a massage once a month just to keep it in check. I just thought it was worth mentioning this - its worth a try, so at least you can cancel it out if it doesn't do anything? Good luck x
I really feel for you. Like the others say, as a starting point, post your test results and see what feedback you get. The symptoms you present can be caused by a number of things and like with all health issues, need to be addressed holistically: structure, nutrition & diet, emotions.
Your GP will only be looking at a certain area of issues not the whole picture. So this maybe why you're still unwell, because the underlying causes(s) have not been identified or addressed yet.
Yes postural issues can cause the issues you're experiencing, so in the meantime, are you able to see a practitioner to give a present assessment of your posture/structure? e.g. an osteopath, chiropractor, physiotherapist or sports/remedial masseur?
Other questions to ask yourself (as these areas can cause symptoms):
Have you been under a lot of stress historically and recently?
Are you on any prescribed medication? (if yes, check for reported side effects)
What is your diet like? Are you eating a balanced nutritious diet?
Do you eat at regular meals times?
Are you on a particular type of diet?
Do you eat dairy and gluten?
Do you keep hydrated with plenty of pure water/fruit/herbal teas through the day?
Do you drink coffee/tea/fizzy drinks?
Have you had any gut issues?
Been ill with a stomach bug at any point over recent years?
Do you do lots of exercise?
Don't worry, there will be an answer, it's just a case of being a super sleuth to find it when we don't get the help we need from our GP's.
