I have panhypopituitarism and take hydrocortisone, my consultant mentioned changing me to prednisolone. Wondering if anyone has any experience of this x

Though, I don't have the condition, I can speak to the nature of the drug. I have taken both forms. But, not on a long term basis as you require.

Prednisone/Prednisolone is just a stronger and longer acting form (corticosteroid) than Hydrocortisone. They both provide the same function. It's much like long and short acting insulin for diabetics. Each form has its place.😊

Thank you for explaining this, xxx

Prednisone is fine as long as you keep the dose under 7.50 mcg. Any higher long term can cause damage to your bones.

However all steroids raise cortisol so you need to keep a close eye on your adrenals.

Best wishes.
