Reducing Levothyroxine

Is it too soon to notice a difference after reducing my Levothyroxine from 125mg to 100mg per day, 6 days ago. I ask because yesterday I just couldn’t get out of bed and I’m constipated, which usually happens when my levels are out.

Have you had vitamin levels tested yet

B12 512ng range 200-900

Folate 6.73ug range 2.70-18.60

Ferritin 66ug range 10-320

Vit d 165 nmol/l range 50-220

To be honest I’m abit out of my depth. Could it be too much t3 rather than too much t4. ?Could they be menopausal symptoms? I don’t really know what the symptoms of over medicating are. At the moment the main things are the overheating, sweating and nausea. I’ve decided to try 125mg and 100mg every other day. What do you think?

Folate, B12 and ferritin are not very good

What supplements do you currently take?

You can improve ferritin by increasing iron rich foods

Eating liver or liver pate once a week, plus other iron rich foods like black pudding, prawns, spinach, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily vitamin C can help improve iron absorption

FERRITIN and hypothyroidism

Low folate and B12 Supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in not folic acid may be beneficial.

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast

Recommended brands on here are Igennus Super B complex. (Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks ).

Or Jarrow B-right is popular choice, but is large capsule

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Presumably you supplement vitamin D

Why was your dose reduced?

I mentioned In one of my other posts that I was profusely sweating and thought it could be due to over medicating.

Yes, I think within three days you would be able to tell if the new dose is too low. Increase back up.
