Are you following any specific diet?

Chia seeds are a good source of omega 3, but with thyroid issues, we may struggle to get the benefits of their particular strand of omega 3. For that reason I'd say chia seeds are not bad for you, but if you're only eating them because you're seeking an omega 3 boost, you're wasting your time.

I like chia seeds, so I just eat them for that reason.

Thank you . I’m vegetarian and don’t eat fish

That's fair enough. My understanding is that our bodies have to convert the ALA strain of omega 3 (the kind found in Chia) to the active strain DHA (which is the kind found in e.g. fish) before it's useful. If you eat e.g. 10mg of omega 3 from chia, you probably only get the benefit of 2mg of that (if that makes sense), so you would need to aim for a bit above the GDA if you want to get enough.

They don't seem goitrogenic for me.

I eat 10-15g daily with the same amount of linseeds soaked in kefir for an hour.

Oh my goodness , should be on the pack if it’s not already 😮 thanks

NASTY! He must have swallowed a lot with no fluids.

They clump, so need a stir part way through soaking to avoid a chewy lump. If I forget to soak them, I swallow them in small amounts & make sure to drink a lot of kefir &/or water as it's not good for them to rehydrate from gastric fluids alone.

Some people soak them in orange juice & drink them that way. :)

I thought I’d seen a picture of that . Would you recommend? 🤔

The reports I've read state that he was known to have pre-existing swallowing problems & had been diagnosed with dysphagia (swallowing problems due to obstructive lesions or motor disorders), asthma, and various allergies; and notwithstanding, had actually swallowed not just a teaspoon, or a dessert spoon, but a tablespoon of seeds. There is just no accounting for stupidity.

Nasty, nasty little seeds of the devil! 😈

I (having followed all instructions) had the worst bout of diarrhoea I have ever had in my life with these.

They are the stuff of Satan, I don’t care how much the benefits of them are stated.

Flaxseed is s much better option in my opinion 😉

Not helpful not constructive but just thought I’d say! 😂

Your entitled to your opinion 😂.

I know lots of people like them - my sis and three year old Niece love them in jam but for me, not good!

Enjoy 😉

I was adding raw chia seeds to muesli. Then I started thinking they are so small they must just pass straight through the body , so I should probably soak them first?
