Hi there, I am not diagnosed with thyroid disease but am diagnosed with functional neurological disorder last June. I feel the extreme fatigue just doesn't fit in particular. I have lots of symptoms in addition. I will try and post the results. Coukd anyone please comnent as to what I should do next. I thought I should attempt to present the result to my GP, without much faith in them doing anything. Is it worth me going for a private endo apt as I do have health insurance? I am in the Manchester area. Many thanks.
Medichecks results antibodies: Hi there, I am not... - Thyroid UK
Medichecks results antibodies
Based on your TSH, T4 and T3 results, a doctor will say you are 'euthyroid' i.e. your thyroid results are normal as they are all 'in range'. However, your raised antibodies tell me that you have the beginnings of a problem there, perhaps it's early days and they haven't had much of a chance to do much damage to your thyroid tissue (which is what happens over a long time).
What symptoms do you have? What's your diet like? It can help to be gluten free (and maybe dairy free) if you have an autoimmune problem, so you could look into that as a means to reduce antibodies.
Hi Jadzhia, thanks for your reply. Fatigue, brain fog, cold hands/feet, numbness in fingertips and toes, weakness in arms/legs, weight gain, had chronic urticaria for 12 months 10yrs ago, now random hives. Also random hoarsesness and found when I go to get my eyebrows tinted I cant talk when lying flat! For years have had IBS issues of constipation and diarrhoea, bloating. Sufferr anxiety/depression in varying degrees along the way too. I would be happy to try and gluten free diet, I do eay gluten but try and eat mainly healthy stuff, dont eat too badly generally. I take antihistamines *half every other day) to avoid wax buiding up in ears as always need syringed if not and if dont take them get itchy skin (have flaky skin in ears apoarently) Sorry its quite a list 🙄
Definitely sounds like thyroid issues to me, even the urticaria, which can go with autoimmune conditions.
I'm not sure what to suggest as diagnosis-wise a doctor would be unlikely to start you on Levothyroxine with those results. It might be worth re-testing in a couple of months to see if the results change. In the meantime, I suggest focusing on going gluten free (must be completely). Also, another thing you could test is your Vitamin 12, folate, ferritin and Vitamin D. These four are often found to be on the low side in hypo people, so would be worth getting those labs done.
Thanks very much Jadzhia, that does sound like a good idea; to change my diet and have those bloods done 😊
Hi again, I was just looking at some other posts and wonder if the fact that I did my test in the late afternoon when I will have eaten normally. Didnt realise I should have been fasting beforehand?
