Hi guys,

Tomorrow at 4:15 I travel to wichita to my endocrinology appointment. I hope to get something useful out of this appointment whereas I'm just not getting any answers feel my coldness coming on, eating feeling like I need to compensate or something Carby food so to speak, overeating more that I know I need but the overwhelming sensation that I have to. wanting to work out because I used to work out all the time and anymore I still have all of my muscle weakness very inflamed joints with joint pain etc. U name it I have it, every symptom!! I'm so sick and tired of this been battling this for half a year I know I have only been on my thyroid medication for 5 weeks but I was hoping some symptoms would subside a bit :((( I don't know what my endocrinologists plan will be for tomorrow??? But I hope for some positive!!! I'm currently on 50mcg levo. I do take my pill in the morning sometimes at 5:30 a.m. sometimes at 7 or 7:30 a.m. I wouldn't think the couple hours in between time would make a big difference I wait for my caffeine at least an hour and a half or two hours. Etc..

50mcg is only a starter dose of Levothyroxine

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Ask endocrinologist to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 plus thyroid antibodies

Make sure to request copies of your blood test results too

Dose of Levothyroxine is increased slowly in 25mcg steps upwards, retesting 6-8 weeks later each time

This continues until TSH is under 2 and FT4 in top third of range

Ok, this makes much more sense to me now thank you. Do I still take my morning dose? Before my 415 pm appt?

Ideally bloods should be retested early morning, not late afternoon

Probably don't take Levothyroxine until after appointment

You are on the lowest dose. The American Thyroid Association states TSH levels should be between 0.5 and 2.5 but most of all your symptoms are the BEST indicator. Use your voice to the Dr. find out your new TSH levels. Hugs!!!
