Thyroid resistance
Does anyone know a capable Endocrinologist on the NHS on the Yorkshire area please who knows about Thyroid resistance ?
I understand this condition is rare but someone must be a genuine sufferer
Many thanks

The impression I've had is that no NHS Endo will look into it. Indeed that no NHS Endos are even thyroid specialists in the first place, they don't seem to know about anything besides the most straightforward frequent patterns Even then you hear of people being undermedicated for years or whatever.
There is a hospital called Addenbrookes in Cambridgeshire, their research wing does work on hormone resistance. But unfortunately the treatment wing seems to be completely conventional, and I don't think you can get a standard referral to the research wing.
I and a few other people on the forum have not had success getting in through referral from doctors. I think occasionally someone is able to get in through directly contacting the research staff. But the only success I remember was someone acting on behalf of a family member who is very disabled. I'm not sure they yet accept that people who are roughly able to take care of themselves can have thyroid hormone resistance
Please let me know if you do find any joy, though!
Hi
I certainly will
Did you have a TRV Test done ?
I might have this wrong , All it is ,is a blood test , then you have an injection to stimulate your pituatry then another blood test ever 15 minute for an hour to check how your pituatry is functioning?
I did and the results were all low .
No I haven't. I've had a thyroidectomy, though, so don't have a thyroid to respond to anything.
My TSH responds pretty usually. Just that the hormone doesn't seem to be getting into my cells.
