Very interesting. I notice despite all the evidence they kept saying it’s the same! If it was the same how could it have been a new formula? This is the same claim made that all the brands of Levo are the same here. Yet we know by experience they are not. It would be surprising for a drug company to admit they had made a big error though - they, like doctors, tend to bury their mistakes.

I hope they are taken to the cleaners. Greedy b*st*rds. 🤸🏿‍♀️

That is what Amco said about Mercury Pharma Levo. It most definitely was not the same as Goldshield Eltroxin. I am my son are still suffering and having any other in Uk causes more problems.

Though it is obvious that there has been a major impact, I do wonder how much Merck actually knew, understood or predicted before they released the new formulation product.

That in itself is damning. They should have known by doing testing at a large enough scale. But I think it realistic.

Their behaviour in ploughing on and not recognising or admitting problems is what converting a major mistake into a disaster.

The parallel and similar issues with Teva here also need proper investigation. (Though we at least potentially could switch to other formulations, once we are aware that Teva is the problem.)

Is there an outside possibility that this debacle could lead to research which explains why it occurred at the biochemical level? Could we end up with improved understanding of levothyroxine formulations? A big price to pay, considering it has always been open to companies and others to research these questions.
