Hi guys, does anyone know of any papers for suppressed TSH when on liothyronine. My GP’s are freaking out as my THS is suppressed, I had a call to say it looks as though I am over medicated. I had a very long conversation with one of the GPs and explained I had been on liothyronine for over 10 years and my TSH has been suppressed ever since but I have an appointment with the practice pharmacist on the 22nd and wanted to take some kind of evidence with me. Stating that liothyronine causes or can cause a suppressed TSH, for some reason the pharmacist is now responsible for my health....
Suppressed TSH: Hi guys, does anyone know of any... - Thyroid UK
Suppressed TSH
You could take along the PIL from your lio and point out where it explicutly states that one of the uses of liothyronine is as a tsh supppressant.
If you take T3, as do I, then your tsh will be suppressed. Mine is unmeasurable as I’m on a high dose of T3 - between 175 and 200mcg. I go on how I feel but then I self-medicate and don’t involve the GP. It is, in my and others’ opinion, that treating by tsh alone is a big mistake, as is using the tsh to diagnose. What about all your other Ts?
T3 3.2 t4 8.4 for some reason in wales they don’t put reference ranges on the printouts. I take 60mcg a day, and have just read the PIL leaflets for morningside and Teva and they have nothing about being used for lowering TSH....
I apologise, it appears that part of the PIL information has changed, probably around the.time the dosage information changed to the stupid dissolve method.
It did used to say under section 1: To suppress Tsh [in tca patients].
I am on a quest to find a historical mention somewhere now.
I’ve just had the same thing said this morning from the endocrinologist!!
