This probably won’t be seen by many because of the time I’m posting. But I visited my tenant and noticed he had seven or so boxes of Tiromel in his bathroom 😖 I advised him about keeping them cool and in a dark place. We got talking. He buys them from a ‘guy’ at the gym for £100 each. I didn’t know whether to up his rent or educate him on the effects on pricing it has for us Thyroidians 😩 rant over 😑

A box of Tiromel and a protein bar at the gym 🤷🏾♀️😡🤯
Depressing, isn't it? I assume he buys them for weight loss or to help with muscle building
Well, he's paying for the guy at the gym's trip to Turkey and arrest risk. Don't think that has any affect on price to NHS. It's always happened. I got mine at the gym in the 1980s.
I’m tempted to tell him this but that might mean he finds someone who has it cheaper and negates someone else who needs it from buying it that is one of us. I’ll leave him to it. But I might enquire next time. I got the feeling the supplier has then in his bag at all times like spare socks. Tenant was very nonchalant about it like he couldn’t be bothered to go to the shop so it was more of a convenience.
I think you have to advise him he's being ripped off as well as having rippling muscles which is probably his aim.
Just the kind of behaviour that is likely to make T3 less accessible to all those who legitimately benefit from it.
So, out of curiosity, from someone on the other side of the pond, what is a “good” price for Tiromel?
I have had to buy T3 in the past from body building sites. It’s a bit of a bugger that people use this essential drug for body building but, if I had my way, all drugs would be legal and freely available but I am a very liberal person! I definitely don’t think we should tell these people where they can buy it cheaper as I suspect our suppliers will become more finite
Agreed.
We can't have nanny state plus denial of vital drugs. NHS wants to have full control over all sorts of substances and release them on prescription only? Fine, so long as they issue them on need at the right dose. Otherwise, I'm happy to do my own research (much more than any average GP does) and take responsibility of what I put inside myself, thank you very much!
It's surely of no concern of anyone else, that he takes it, how he sources it, or how much he pays for it. it's not a cat A, B or C drug.
I suppose not but what concerns me is why our suppliers would continue to supply us for medical use when they could receive 10 times the amount from body builders
