Got my blood results. What do they mean?

Thryoid function test Serum TSH 5.85 mu/L 0.27 - 4.2)

(Above Range)

Serum Free T4 Level 14.6 pmol/L (10.0 - 21.0)

Serum Free triiodothyronine level 4.5 pmol/L (3.5 - 6.5)

I am seeing doctor tomorrow. Want to have the discussion about T3. I plan to tell him that I will seek a private referral to Mr Toft in Edinburgh - whose article here I will cite.

If Dr Toft agrees that I would benefit from T3, I want my doctor to put that note on my file. I will source it myself until it is available on the NHS and will campaign for others to be able to access as well.

I too presented with Toft's counterblast article, but neither my doctor nor NHS endocrinologist were open to a discussion regarding my health issues.

I am with Graves disease, hypothyroidism and TED - after RAI treatment in 2005 -

I was on Levothyroxine, requested a trial of T3 in 2016 - hence the referral to endo - denied T3 owing to a suppressed TSH - and so it goes on !!!!

I am now self medication, less stressed and so far so good.

Fingers crossed for you - why is wanting to be well, so difficult to achieve within the

NHS system ?
