My doctor wanted to reduce my thyroxine from 175 to 150, I refused. My TSH is 0.010 and my free T4 is 15. I am running on 2 cylinders, craving carbs, basically a sloth. (I love sloths) She said she would refer me to an Endocrinologist, yey. But I have been recalled to doctor, she had word from endo at the hospital, to get a non urgent review. I need to have correct info so I can stick up for myself. Help!

What was your GP's reason for wanting to reduce your Levo with such a low FT4? You are undermedicated, you need an increase not a reduction in your Levo.
What about the other tests that SlowDragon mentioned that are needed? Have they been done?
Hi, thanks for your reply. I will read over last responses. However my TSH and free T4 were only tested? The doctor saying my TSH suppressed. 0.010. I should say that it has been at this level for over 4 years+.
Hi, I'm no expert but have learned a little bit in the few months since discovering this forum! Whatever the results show, do NOT cut down on your thyroxine!!! "Running on 2 cylinders, craving carbs, basically a sloth" are classic symptoms of hypothyroidism, as you probably know.
Can you post ALL your blood results, with reference ranges? I don't suppose you have had any test for T3 (they don't seem to realise that both T3 and T4 levels need testing!), as well as things like antibodies, (unless the type of hypothyroidism has already been diagnosed)Also post any other blood results, for example to see if your vitamin and mineral levels are optimal or you need supplements.
It looks to me as if you are not converting T4 into T3 (the active form of the hormone) properly. With such a low TSH your T4 should surely be higher (I think the maximum on the range is around 21). Perhaps the problem is with your pituitary or hypothalamus instead of thyroid? In which case you will need T3 as well as T4.
And why should you suffer for several months just because they won't do the necessary tests (especially of T3 as well as T4, to see your conversion level? If the doctors won't try to get to the bottom of the problem before then it might be best to get private testing.
But, as said, I'm no expert. Hopefully one of those will turn up soon!
