Helping get to sleep - it works!

Dear all who find it difficult to sleep - usually because ones heart needs to be slowed down a little before this can happen.

I have found a really wonderful way to get to sleep and hope it works for people with the same problem it's called PHENERGAN and comes in 25 mg tablets.

At first I took a whole pill but found I felt sleepy in the mornings afterwards and didn't need that amount.

Now I take half a pill ( cut by the wonderful small pill-splitter) and chew up a bit of a plain rice-cake or tea-biscuit to help this down with a gulp of water.

I take it about 10 minutes before I want to sleep. I relax my arms first, then each leg, then other parts of my body, breathing the proper way: out and in from the diagram outwards - not upwards - and concentrate my eyes straight ahead - then let go.

I've been using this for two or three years now, and Phenergan is NON-ADDICTIVE which is marvellous.

Best wishes,

Ceramics 123

I’m not too sure about this as a recommendation. I’m glad it works for you Ceramics123, but the list of side effects is endless. I tend to be quite sensitive to medicines and I have had very severe side effects from Promethazine the main chemical in this drug in the past. Here is the link to the side effects. I always think everyone needs to be very very cautious with drugs and chemicals. Levo can also nasty side effects for some people. Personally, I’d probably rather count sheep! But each to his/her own. drugs.com/sfx/phenergan-sid...

See you are on 100mcg Levothyroxine after Graves

Are your thyroid and vitamin levels optimal?

Low vitamin D can cause insomnia

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. When on Levothyroxine, take last dose 24 hours prior to test, and take next dose straight after test. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

Add results and ranges if you have them and members can advise
