Banana Tea for sleep?

This interview covered SLEEP in all its troubling forms. Dr. Michael Brues talked about melatonin and sleeping pills but two of his recommendations were interesting. One was to count backward by 3's starting at 300. The second was drinking banana tea. The peel has 3 times more magnesium then in the amount of the fruit. His method is to of course wash the banana, then cut it in half (do not peel) and cut off the tip. Boil the entire piece for a few minutes in boiling water. He did not say to eat any of the banana, just drink the banana tea. I would get an organic banana.

I found my sleep improved after I started taking magnesium supplements, it also helped my constipation and dropped my blood pressure readings from needing blood pressure tablets to a normal level. I only started taking it as I understand it’s beneficial for the thyroid etc. My sleep is still not refreshed though.

I read an article recently about melatonin but apparently you need a Drs prescription for it in the Uk, so I bought some 5htp which I take in the evening. I’m now sleepier than before and am finding I sleep longer uninterrupted, instead of waking at 2 then 3 etc etc I’m not waking until past 5 or even to the alarm at 6.30. Again is not yet refreshed but it does feel better during the day, I’m still exhausted but it’s easier to get through.

I used to take a combination when I had restless leg syndrome. It was half magnesium and half calcium and calcium also helps with relaxing muscles. The doctor gave many methods to try to improve your sleep. If they rerun the episodes I will post it.

Please let us know if you try this, everybody. The recipe is about 47 minutes into that link. I should be most interested to hear the results from those who give it a go.

Hi Trill, I did try it but I think I had to use too much water to cover the banana and it may have diluted it. I thought the taste was okay and I did fall asleep without too much delay but I don't often have the problem.

Can you repost the video with Dr. Breus. The link appears to point to another days episode.

They are going to replay any of the episodes you want to watch tomorrow. You can locate Dr. Breus' interview in the link tomorrow although this may work as well. regainyourbrain.awakeningfr...

I'm sorry Sushind, the way these summits work is that each episode only remains online for 24 hours. This is a free time to watch the video and then they stop. If people care to buy the whole series at the end it can be downloaded.

By the time you checked the link it had moved on to the next episode. I guess that happens automatically I actually thought you needed a new link. Today it's on Toxins. Usually they give a free couple of days of free viewing of all of them after the series has run all episodes. You can pick up the ones you didn't have a chance to watch.

I will post that if they do it with this series. It will probably be in a few days, possibly the weekend. They are all excellent I have to say.

I have also made banana tea after my friend said it gave her the best sleep ever...it didn’t do that for me to be honest but magnesium oil spray does stop the pesky restless legs and helps to relax me into a nice sleep.

Very good, I had never heard of it before. I think I've had every magnesium known to man so I may as well try this, too:)
