I hate this disease.

Hi again

I have written a few posts about blood results and symptom on what sort of thyrotoxicosos ( or however you spell it) I have. Right now I really don't care . NHS seem to really struggle with the symptoms and the diagnosis of our problems. I have had epilepsy for ten years and I promise you that I would rather have that than whatever type of that unpronouncable name I have. With epilepsy although you have seizures and they are not nice as long as you fall on something soft that doesn't hurt you You recover in thirty minutes or so. There are no symptoms. With this new disease I have different side effects each day. I have allways had perfect vision but now all I see is blurred and double vision. Reading the football results in the paper took longer than the matches themselves, I can only do this by using one of those ridiculously looking magnifying glasses. Is blurred and double vision a short term symptom of or does it live with you for a longer term. Any thoughts?

Assuming you have Graves', the double vision could indicate an associated condition, Thyroid Eye Disease. I see from a previous post that you had an endo appointment the other day, Did you mention the vision changes then ?

Ideally, they should be asking you about any changes to vision every time you see the endo, but if they don't you must mention them. TED is usually mild, and may not need any treatment (or perhaps only eye-drops), but it can be more serious.

If you didn't mention the changes, you could contact your endo's secretary, or see your GP (if you see the GP, it would be an idea to take a copy of this leaflet with you).

Your're right, Graves' Disease is the pits, and we all loathe it - unfortunately there is no quick fix.

When I saw endo I didn't have the symptoms they have only really developed since Friday. I mentioned it to gp on Friday , she showed little concern , although I have seen here before and my confidence in her is very low.
