Hi, has anyone experienced this reaction after using Carbazimole for only 6 weeks? I am only on a 5mg dose? Thanks

It’s probably not a concern, but:

Are you also feeling unwell ? I assume you were given the “sore throat” talk....mouth ulcers can also be a sign of a rare side effect of Carbimazole, which leads to a dangerously reduced white cell count.

You’re only on a low dose, but the side effect is more likely when we first start on Carbimazole, so I think you should request an urgent blood test.

There is more info about the side effect (agranulocytosis ) in the linked leaflet - you could print this off and show to your surgery if they question the need. This can take off fast, so don’t wait until you feel worse !

Thanks for the info. I checked with consultant and had a full blood test. Results came back fine. She told me the medication can cause mouth ulcers but not necessarily give you a severe reaction x

Ring the consultants secretary and ask for an urgent appointment and why. You need checking out
