My bumpy thyroid journey

I was diagnosed with underactive thyroids after I had my daughter some 25yrs ago.

Bloods done, told you have hypothyroidism, here, fill out this form you now get free prescriptions, take these tablets.

Since then took meds like a good girl. Health issues left right and centre over the years.

Bloods taken on a yearly basis, meds upped, meds lowered and repeat lol

Never felt human.

Read up on the condition. Took advice, followed advice. Bought vitamins etc. Made no difference.

Referred to endo. He was about as much use as a cholocate fireguard. All he did on my appts was weigh me, measure height, took pee sample. He never took on board anything I said. All he kept telling me is and I quote " you are depressed"

In response to my constantly fluctuating levels, he told me off for over medicating and under medicating. DOh, I take the meds I am prescribed.

Told my doc I will not see the endo again as I have no confidence in him.

Gave doc a list of various blood tests I wanted. To be told lab doesnt do this one, doesn't do that one etc.

SO paid out to get private bloods done. Doc says wasted my money as this test and this test are not done as there are too many variables.

SO now I have given doc the name of a private endo and demanded he refer me.

My appt is on Friday and I am hoping I get answers.

Sounds familiar!

Have you ever had thyroid antibodies tested - Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) and Thyroglobulin (TG).

Has FT3 ever been tested along with TSH and FT4?

Have you always had your blood tests under the same conditions. We always advise here to book the earliest appointment of the morning, fast overnight from evening meal (water allowed, breakfast after blood draw) and leave off Levo for 24 hours which gives the highest TSH which is needed when looking for an increase in dose or to avoid a reduction.

Can you add your private blood test results and ranges

Did you also get vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested

Guessing you have Hashimotos with levels going up and down

If so are you on strictly gluten free diet?
