Possible thyroid issue and further testing?

Hello again :) Thanks for all your previous help - I've been reading round the pointers you all made and have a couple more questions.

Thinking about all my symptoms, including the ones I had before I cut carbs to vegetable sources only, I think it's worth exploring Hashimoto's as well as Central Hypothyroidism.

I really don't know how amenable my gp will be if I ask for further testing. At the moment I'm going to list my symptoms, how long I've had them and point out the link between high cholesterol and possible thyroid issues. Is there anything I can take to back this up rather than tell her how it used to be? Maybe there's a paper somewhere? If anyone knows that would be super helpful!

If I can get the antibodies tested (if not NHS then I'll pay privately) should I be eating wheat etc again? If so, for how long beforehand?

Is there some sort of easy explanation of central hypothyroidism? As I understand it so far, I'm looking at this as both my TSH and FT4 levels are low. Is that right?

Thank you for all your help so far, it's gonna be a long road!

I will give you a link of cliical symptoms and tick off the ones you have. You would need your thyroid antibodies checked to confirm or not you have an Autoimmune Thyroid Disease (hashimoto's).

For diagnosing an Autoimmune Thyroid Disease you need:-

Central hypo is when the either the pituitary (Secondary hypo) or the hypothalamus (Tertiary hypo) is malfunctioning, rather than the thyroid itself. It could be due to a benign tumour, or a blow to the head, or something like that. In either case, the result is that not enough TSH is produced to stimulate the thyroid. So, you will have low TSH with low FT4 and low FT3.

Hope this helps. :)
