I would like to study more about iron deficiency (without anaemia). Can you recommend good groups in healthunlocked for that? (Could not find any with search)

Thanks

Hi hachiko and Rmichelle, would you explain this condition please. Is it having adequate haemoglobin but insufficient B12/folate/ferritin perhaps? Or even more complex than that?

Many thanks.

Hi Canta! Sorry, I only now saw your reply. Please see my reply below, but yes, you are correct!

My big message here is: ladies, test your ferritin level! Symptoms are identical to thyroid problems.

hachiko,

I think many who have read your post might fail to fully understand how you can be iron deficient and yet not anaemic. Perhaps if you gave a bit more explanation others would understand better what you mean and might be able to help?

Iron deficiency without anaemia and anaemia (usually with iron deficiency) are two different things, yet can be present simultaneously too. Iron storage can be empty, and still hemoglobin be good, which is why iron deficiency goes unnoticed so often. I am afraid I can't explain this any better, since I am very much only studying the topic now myself...

(I was just a bit shocked to find out how low my iron storage was, trying to improve it now. Hence the interest.)
