Hi,
I am wondering how endocrinologists determine when its time to come off carbimazole. Is it just on whether you have been taking it for 12 or 18 months ? Is it on how long you have been in normal range (euthyroid) for? Or do they do an antibody test to see if you no longer have trap/''tis graves anti bodies showing? ( mine was slightly elevated 2.2 range 0-1)
I am due to see my endo next month (just preparing some paperwork for the appt) which will coincide with me being on carbimazole for 12 months. I have been in normal range for the last 11 months now and tsh has been showing in the normal range through out this time highest reaching 4.2 (I understand with graves the tsh remains suppressed for quite sometime). I am now on 2.5 mg carbimazole and feeling the best I have done (not fully myself) though I am still struggling with getting my life back together and getting back to work etc I am hoping I can come off this medication and finally get back to being me again. I just want to gather as much information for my appointment as possible or any blood tests I need prior.
Many thanks
