I have read somewhere that hair loss due to iron deficiency does regrow once imbalance of iron is addressed. Hormonal hair loss is different - doesn't always return or not to its former glory.

How long do you have to take iron before there is a noticable difference? And do you know whether leaky gut syndrome prevents iron absorbstion?

I don't know how long it would take but I would think leaky gut may affect absorption. Sorry I can't be more precise.

I have low Ferritin (iron stores) like a 7 when it should be 90...I have tried to get it up but it does so very slowly then it seems to go back down. I do not have any absorption issues. However, my Ferritin has always been super low and hair loss for did not start until 5 years ago. My hairdresser found a softball size chunk of hair gone and smaller spots all over. Dr. said alopecia. Great...Then I started going in cycles of massive hair fall then growing back then falling out again. Have them do a scalp biopsy - it will tell you what you have and then the doctor can help figure out how to treat it. So I have alopecia (manageable) androgenic alopecia, and TE's all the time even though I really do have a low stress level). It has gotten better. there was a time when I was almost bald. I use organ for men twice a day, take Spironolactone, get cortisone shots for the alopecia and found a really great hair vitamin (or three :)) that I take every day. Pretty much all my hair is back but it sucks to see it fall again. Oh yeah, it grew back kinky curly. Before I had stick straight hair. That is starting to calm down now thank god.

Sorry that is Rogain for men. 5% vs 2% for women. Dr said don't bother with 2% go for 5. I never believed vitamins would play that big of a roll as I already took a multivitamin. I bought these:

HairAnew (Unique Hair Growth Vitamins with Biotin) - Tested - For Hair, Skin & Nails - Women & Men - Addresses Vitamin Deficiencies That Could Be The Cause of Hair Loss / Lack of Regrowth * 60 VCaps

Sold by: Naturenetics

For the first time my hair actually started to grow. I grows, falls out and grows slowly. Every single strand of my hair is a different length! I believe the HairAnew has really helped that.

I also take Viviscal - not sure if it makes a difference. Very $$$ and when I used that alone I did not see much.

I also take Inosito. It is one of the B vitamins and is supposed to be good for hair. These together have seemed to promote growth.

You can buy both on Amazon.

Yep, from America - Austin TX :). I have accepted the fact that I have to use Rogaine 2x per day until the find a better treatment. It's actually not bad. It makes your hair feel really thick. just don't put too much on and run some conditioner on the ends to protect them. You are basically pouring alcohol onto your scalp and it can dry hair.
