Is this suggested increase too high a jump?

I have Hashimoto's and posted on here recently about private consultant suggesting I increase dose from 75mcg to 100/125mcg alternate days. I always understood you should only increase by 25mcg increments but didn't think to question him at the time. So wondering if this is too big a jump? I also take a low dose of Ramipril for high BP.

My husband thinks I should just go with what the consultant suggested as "he should know best" but I am a bit more cautious as I have read that suppressing TSH comes with it's own issues.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Personally yes, I would only increase by 25mcgs, wait six weeks and retest. Then consider if need to increase again

High FT4 can cause its own problems with increased RT3

Watch out for different brands of Levo as change dose. Important to stay on same brand

What was last blood test results TSH, FT4 and FT3 on 75mcg

How about ferritin, folate and B12 levels?

I see you are supplementing vitamin D. How much?

Also magnesium?

Selenium too?

Are you on strictly gluten free diet?

Syd35,

It depends how undermedicated you are. The increased advised by the endo is only 37.5mcg daily so it isn't excessive.

Syd35,

Just looked at your results from 2 months ago. TSH 0.90 is likely to become suppressed even with 25mcg dose increase and FT4 16 should be lifted into the higher range. It may be worth just increasing by 25mcg, retesting in 6-8 weeks and then considering whether or not to increase by the other 12.5mcg.
