Should my FT3 level be high up in the range? At the moment I seem to be scraping the bottom and my anxiety is really high.

FT3 3.31 pmol/L 3.10 - 6.80

Beany6,

No, it doesn't have to be high in range but most people will feel better with it higher in range. What are your TSH and FT4 results and ranges?

My TSH 4.65 mIU/L Range .27 - 4.20 and my T4 23.00 pmol/L 12.00 - 22.00

Beany6,

Are you taking Levothyroxine? TSH is high and indicates under medication but FT4 23 is over range and indicates over medication.

Yes I have taken 100mcg for about 20 years now. In 2016 my GP put the dose up to 125mcg and I was totally freaked out with debilitating anxiety/panic attacks for weeks. I mostly feel OK on 100mcg. but seem to have mild anxiety that flares up every now and then. I find it quite puzzling!

Beany6,

It's not usual to have high TSH and high FT4. Ask your GP to refer you to an endocrinologist.

It's not very over range. I'm am rwadibgvthatcyou are now back on 100? So may be try 75 one day a week and see how you feel on that.

Would 75mcg once a week make any difference generally or just on the day I take it?

Thank you for your help.

Thought of it as just a starting point. If still having problems drop again. Is going to be a bit of juggling I feel to get on a high enough dose but keep the gremlins away. Might be helpful as well if you get the Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin checked as they help the Thyroid so much and also help conversion. As your FT3 is low and FT4 high then taking supplements if you are low in them should, in time, raise your FT3 and because that is getting higher your FT4 with gonlower because of the extra conversion power. That's why keeping FT4 high but not causing issues will help keep FT3 as high as it can be till the supplements kick in and it starts to rise.
